Before the semester starts you have to enroll ("sich immatrikulieren") at the chosen university.

For enrollment, you usually have to submit the following documents:

  1. letter of admission
  2. proof of health insurance
  3. filled out enrollment sheet
  4. proof of payment of tuition fee (between 90 and 180 Euros)
  5. renewed visa


Depending on the university, further documents can be required, e.g. original report cards have to be submitted. Therefore, it is better to gather information beforehand and - very important! - to meet deadlines, because you usually have only 2 to 3 days available for enrollment.
